Great Wall of China Trek for MIA
Story
When Kathryn Polgar, General Manager of Ricky Richards, decided to step up and join the team participating in the Great Wall of China Trek supporting Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) she thought the opportunity was too good to be true. Not only will funds be raised for a wonderful cause, but Kathryn along with her team mates will push themselves to limits they didn’t know they had and complete a hard 5-day trek on parts of the Great Wall that are not allowed to be walked on by the public.
Last month an idea occurred to Kathryn to involve yet another Ricky staff member in this great experience. She offered the Ricky team members the chance to put themselves forward and volunteer to go with her to fill another spot on the Trek. Finding the decision too hard herself, Kathryn asked MIA representatives to be the judge and choose the lucky winner. Michael Smith, BDM for the Print Media Division was chosen and he could not be happier.
“Spot, Pinkie, Pinkie Tescadero, Red, I’ve been called them all because of my pasty white freckled skin thanks to my Scottish heritage. Because of this I’ve always made sure I religiously slipped, slopped & slapped.” Michael explains in his story.
After being so diligent Michael was not only surprised but disappointed recently to find that he had a Melanoma on his lower back. If it wasn’t for what he had already learnt through the partnership between Ricky Richards and MIA, he can guarantee it would still be there under the “She’ll be right mate” clause.
Now Kathryn and Michael are reaching out for your support. They have a target to raise $8000 between them but would love to blow that out to over $30 grand. Find out more about Melanoma, follow their progress and jump online to donate to this troublesome twosome making a difference in the world of Melanoma research. 100% of your donation will go directly to MIA to support the work they do to find a cure for Melanoma and it is tax deductible. Take the steps and help us end Melanoma!
